New Hampshire's Magic Mile...
There's a stark contrast between the rolling hills of New Hampshire and the throaty roar of a NASSCAR Stockcar. This past Tuesday the NASS division made its first stop in the Granite State. Hot temperatures and a loose setup tested the mettle of even the most seasoned driver as the early going was peppered with single car spins, some of which, turned into multicar melees.
The ECI Enterprises AMSOIL Pontiac had a sold finish in a less then stellar equipment. Finishing up in the bottom of the speed charts for practice and qualifying, the AMSOIL team decided to run a conservative race and try to keep out of trouble. This strategy along with the misfortune of some of the other competitors resulted in another top five (4th) for the team.
Kevin Inglin - "New Hampshire has always been one of my favorite tracks. Just something about this place suits my driving style. I'm not sure how it happened but I used to be pretty fast here. Somewhere along the line I've slipped a bit behind in the speed charts but tonight's conservative run kept us in the hunt all night long. I just bid my time and actually found the car getting more comfortable as the run went along. I ran two of my fastest laps of the race with ten to go. I dodged a couple of spins and our track position strategy placed me in the top five with around ten to go. I finished behind teammate Dean Moll who elected to stay out on old tires. If we had a lap or two more, we would have gotten him. I had a run on him off the last turn and it would have been a drag race but he protected the bottom and I didn't want to get into him."
"Congratulations to Joe Reed on the well deserved victory. I had a front row seat as I followed Joe and Scott Olson to the finish. They had a great battle at the end and my hats off of Joe on the win. We head back to Pocono next week."
