Three years on the circuit and the Kansas Speedway is finally starting to build a bit of character. Like the Chicago and California Speedway's, Kansas is one of the newcomers to the circuit. Drivers are just starting to get a feel and the track is providing to be racier every year
The ECI Enterprises AMSOIL Team was pretty solid this week and had to privilege of offloading as last weeks winner. Having a little more stride in the step, the team put in a solid effort and once again was there for the shot at the win.
A lap one caution found the AMSOIL Pontiac jump from seventh to second. The team decided to relinquish the gain and take on fresh tires in case of a long run. The prediction was right and Inglin restated in eight and held tight until green flag pitstops commenced. The team called for a pitstop on lap 50 and Kevin ducked in for four fresh tires and a full load of fuel. Upon returning to the track, Kevin was one lap down but a timely caution resulted in an unusual situation. Then leader Dean Moll pitted and had to start on the end of the longest line. This resulted in most of the field lining up as one of the cars on the tail end of the lead lap. After a poor the restart, Dean charged past the AMSOIL Pontiac and placed the team a lap down but then controversy struck as the yellow waved once again. The Bud Ice car of Norm Adkins made contact with the leader while racing back to the flag. The contact resulted in heavy damage to the DM31.com Pontiac. However the break of the race occurred during the incident as the AMSOIL Pontiac was able to scoot on by and back to the lead lap. Kevin pitted again for tires and prepped for a run to the finish. Things were looking good as an excellent pitstop got us out in second.
