Boom, the shot heard round the nation. The shot being referred to is the piston exploding out of the side of the block on the AMSOIL Chevy. The ECI Express was on target for a top ten when unexpectedly the engine let go and the run was cut short.

Kevin tried a different approach for qualifying and decided to run the bottom groove all the way around on all of the qualifying laps to see if that would yield a short cut advantage. The first lap looked great but for some reason the second lap was slower. Guess a different strategy will be in order for the return trip in the fall.

The race was uneventful for us and very eventful for others. The competitors mixed it up early and a lap 4 crash, along with a lap ten crashed ended the night for quite a few drivers. The team paired up with teammate Dan Bailey, mirrored pit strategies and attempted to steer clear of any trouble. Unfortunately for both Patriot Motorsports team members trouble was not to be avoided. Plagued with problems this year, Dan's night turned sour when his game minimized to the desktop and he made hard impact with the wall while running under caution! Kevin was left to fend for himself and looked to leverage an alliance with someone but the point became moot when the motor unexpectedly exploded off turn two on lap 49..
