It's the twelfth race of the season and by now everyone should be settled in and running clean, consistent races. Unfortunately, that was not the case at the Dover 160 on Tuesday night. Achieving one of the best starts of the season, Kevin was fast in practice and backed it up with a third place qualifying run. Stan Nickle got the jump on Kevin from his fourth place on swapped positions with Kevin by the end of the first lap. Kevin settled in to fourth for the early stages. Seemingly faster than the first and second place driver, the DuPont machine of Nickle charged passed and garnered the top spot before ten laps were over. The AMSOIL Chevy looked to follow in his footsteps but took a more cautions approach and was awaiting a time where he could slip by without incident.

On lap fifteen, Kevin was hugging the bottom lane and looking under Jeff Mahan for third. Being patient and waiting for an opportunity to present allowed the fifth place car of Miles Hammrick to close in on the bumper of the ECI Express. Kevin swung wide on the backstretch to angle the car in and perform the pass but Hammrick apparently misjudged the move and got into the back of the AMSOIL mount. Hammrick's front bumper made solid contact lifting the back end of the red-white and blue Chevy and causing it to snap around hard into the third turn barrier.

Damaged and off the pace, Kevin continued on the best he could until just after half way when the ill sounding motor gave up the ghost and expired just past the start finish line. Kevin was luck to save the car which spun on its own oil and just missed clipping the end of the pit wall before coming to a rest in turn one.

Kevin Inglin, the pilot of the AMSOIL Chevy had this to say after the run:

We really didn't need this. I honestly believe we had a good shot at a win or top finish. I'm not sure why Miles got into us that early into the race and I'm going to have to go watch the replay before I say anything. I hate it for the team. We had our best qualifying effort for the year and were really stoked about getting our program back on track.
