Road courses can impart road rage for certain drivers. The finesse and skill to negotiate left and right turns is an art all to itself. This week the NASS Lightning troupe poured themselves into the wine region of New York State for the one and only Sirus at the Glen. Even though the track is a bit less challenging then it's brethren the Infineon speedway, running a road course can bring out innate ability to showcase the road race aces and grass mowing duds.

The driver of the AMSOIL Chevy fits into the grass mowing category when it comes to road courses. Its a challenge just to stay on the pavement for him and this weeks race proved no exception. Things went well for the first quarter of the race. Holding a steady 12th position, just one little slip into the gravel trap dropped the ECI Express to fifteenth place, one position out of last. Hustling the car and with his rhythm broken, Kevin tried to hang in there and get to the finish in one piece but one more tiny slip on the hairpin turn that is turn 6 was his undoing as the car slipped off the edge of the pavement and head on into the foam barriers. Carrying a bit of speed and no chance of slowing, the car hit solidly and needed to go to the pits for repair. Several laps later repairs were made and Kevin was back on the track sans his hood and front body work. It wouldn't matter however as the impact did some damage to the motor and only four laps passed when the motor expired and left Kevin with a fifteenth place finish.

Kevin Inglin, the pilot of the AMSOIL Chevy had this to say after the run:

This wasn't one of our better showings. Usually I can get comfortable, run consistent laps and stay within site of the middle of the pack. I'm not sure if I was driving to conservatively or what but we were seconds of the leaders pace and just couldn't get anything going. I was worried about this race for sure and unfortunately it turned out bad for us. All we can do is head off to Michigan and know that we have some of our better tracks on the horizon...

Until next week... "
