Race Report - September 6th, 2005 - Race 25 of 36
The sun set on the California coastline as the NASSCAR gladiators prepared to do battle at the two mile oval in Fontana. The ECI Enterprises AMSOIL Chevy barely got settled in when a loose Brett Molzahn spun in turn one. Kevin made brief contact and cleared the incident but a hard charging Jim Allen sideswiped the car and set it head on into the outside retaining wall. Considerable damage was registered to the front nose of the car and fluid was running from underneath as Kevin exited the scene.
The crew patched up the car as best they could and sent Kevin back out to make laps. Only forty-four would go by however before the engine would expire and the race would come to a premature end.
Kevin Inglin, the pilot of the AMSOIL Chevy had this to say after the run:
"What a shame. We didn't even get ten laps into the race and trouble found us early. Circumstances sometimes go this way and it's just the racing gods way of keeping you in check. We'll gather up our resources and head off to Richmond. This might drop us a position in the points but it looks like we have enough of a cushion to get into the Chase for hte Championship so we'll head to Richmond with high hopes.
Until Next week..."

Kevin Inglin, the pilot of the AMSOIL Chevy had this to say after the run:
"One word can sum up the night - Norm. Norm got into us at about the quarter race mark and it put us in such a hole. Every time I see him coming I know that he's going to race us hard. Typically I'll let him go or risk getting a fender. Tonight I probably would have done the same but it was early and I guess he doesn't have the same sense of patience as I do.
The race is over but I can tell you this, just like Jimmy Spencer, I never forget... We got a limited amount of practice before the race and had to get comfortable in the early stage. At any track you can pull up and let a faster car go by but Bristol is different. Do it there and you'll be freight trained for sure. The other thing is it's really risky to be outside someone there. I was concerned when I saw Norm behind me on the restart and the concern was warranted - so much for hindsight.
The car became real comfortable after the change of tires past half way. I was following the leader and at one point he was holding me up. Too bad we couldn't find a caution and get our way back to the lead lap. I guess one can't complain about a sixth place but I think we were a top five car and it's hard to leave a race without that expected top five. I won't be happy with sixth and I'm looking forward to getting all I can out of the California race.
Until next week... "
