Race Report - September 13th, 2005 - Race 26 of 36The perfect racetrack, we've heard it before about Richmond. Ask this driver and you might get a consenting opinion.
This falls race featured only one caution and several green flag pitstops. The AMSOIL Chevy lined up outside row two for the drop of the green flag. Norm Adkins led from the green flag but dropped after crossing the start finish line on lap one. Michel Palardy jumped into the lead for a few short laps but on lap six Francois Bergeron was set to flex his muscle as jumped to the lead and led for the first half of the segment. Michel kept pace with Francois while Kevin just tried to keep the two in sight.
Michel executed the pass and set sail. Kevin closed in on Francois and eventually claimed the second slot toward the middle of the race and contemplated any way to get to the front runner. The decision was to short pit, hope for no cautions, and see if splitting the distance would gain any advantage. In reality it put Kevin only six seconds behind Michel but with fresher tires Michel would add to the deficit. Kevin settled in and held out for a solid second place.
