Race Report - September 20th, 2005 - Race 27 of 36An event that typically is a golden opportunity for ECI racing turned into bitter disappointment. Much earlier in the season this date was circled on the calendar for a chance to race for a win as driver Kevin Inlgin enjoys the flat mile oval at Loudon New Hampshire and comes to the race with a psychological advantage of momentum.
There is no better place to start the Race for the Chase then Loudon but Luck would not shine over New Hampshir on this day as equipment problems put a big damper on the run. Kevin's steering wheel, foot pedal unit was experiencing a wiring problem and the brakes did not work. Brakes are critical to running the track and ultimately it would be the inability in braking that led to race ending contact with the first turn wall.
Kevin Inglin, the pilot of the AMSOIL Chevy had this to say after the run:
"It figures, the one race I looked forward to all year, and equipment problems make it impossible to be competitive. When I tried to pit on that first run the brakes didn't engage and I sped on pit road. I got black flagged and there was no way to get out of the hole we were in. I could only use gas or brake but not both. If I stepped on the brake and the gas was on the brakes didn't work. To make matters worse, the brakes didn't engage until they were more then halfway down and then they only locked up. It was near impossible to race like that and I'm happy I got as far as I did without crashing anyone.
Racing luck is fickle and we'll just have to put this one behind us and head on off to Dover.
