Race Report - October 4th, 2005 - Race 29 of 36Feast or famine, sometimes the you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you - glass half empty, glass half full, or more to the point, win some - lose some. Hopefully the theme is coming through. We've won before at Talladega in fine fashion but other then the first plate race in the truck division, restrictor plate races have been terrible this year.
Even minding your own business isn't going to cut it at a restrictor plate track. This years fall show at Talladega lasted a full eight laps. Pinned in the outside line on the middle of the backstretch - a relatively safe place at any other track - the AMSOIL Chevy was involved in a multiple car crash that saw the AMSOIL colors as high in the air as anyone can remember. No it's not a plane, no it's not a flag, it's not even mighty mouse. Glen Brown, whose luck is about as bad as ours sometimes, clipped the car as he was flipping down the backstretch. The AMSOIL Chevy vaulted Brown's car and was higher then the light poles. Of course the result was a dissapointing DNF and a last place finish.
The plate races are complete for the season and perhaps next year our luck will swing to a positive direction. We seem to have a competitive run often enough but just can't shake the luck.
We head to Kansas next week. It's another one and half miler and we'll remain optomistic for a good run. One thing's for sure, it can get worse then this...
Until Next week...
